This is a vase that is 5 by 3. It has a small base and progressively gets wider as it goes up and then comes into a small straight up lip. It is glazed with only white. The simple glaze helps to highlight the vase's shape.
My pitcher is 6 by 3 inches. It has a small base, comes out wide and then a small opening. It is glazed with clear glaze and then the bottom half is coated in colbalt blue. When making this project I used choking to make the middle section come out wide and then the opening to go in narrow. The diagnol glaze gives the project movement. Giving the project a simple but abstract feel.
My plate is 7 inches wide. It has a spiral starting on the outside and going inwards. The spiral is filled with colbalt blue and then dipped in clear glaze. When making this plate I used a rib tool to flatten the sides. I also used the rib tool to create the spiral by starting on the outside and pressing in. This plate displays movement due to the blue glaze accentuating the spiral. This plate has a pyschedelic feel to it because the spiral is hypnotizing.
This is my first soup bowl. It is 6 by 3 inches, it is a typical bowl shape with the lip slightly flared out. The bowl is vertically split between two colors, cobalt blue and turquoise with about two-thirds turquoise, one third cobalt blue. For this bowl i tried using the rib tool to open it up. I also focused on making an indent on the bottom so i could pull up the walls from there. My bowl displays balance because it is symmetrical on either side with two colors meeting in the middle. My bowl was formed to create a calm vibe, the balance of the two basic colors do not make it stand out, rather they give the bowl a peaceful feel. My bowl is 7 by 4 inches. It is a typical bowl shape and the lip flares out and then goes straight up. The texture is smooth all over. The inside is glazed with cobalt blue and clear meeting half way. On the outside, half of the lip is clear, half is glazed with colbalt blue and the body is mostly a dark green. When making this bowl I tried having a small base to create the a drastic slant in the sides. This bowl has a dark and mysterious vibe to it. The dark colors blend together to form colors that are hard to identify. Overall my bowl turned out good for my second project of the semester but I am hoping to progress from here.
