My cup is 4 by 3 inches. It is thrown with red clay and smooth all over. it is glazed with white glaze that ran down. The white glaze gives the project movement because of it running. the movement also shows constrast of white on dark red.
My cup is 4 by 3 inches. I pulled the walls straight up. It is thrown with red and white clay. It is glazed with white because there was no clear left. The clay combination gives the cup movement. It's white glaze allows the clays color to show movement through the white glaze. My cup is 4 by 3 inches. It has a name stamped on the side of the cup. It is glazed with black with clear around the outside part of the letters. The dark glaze within the letters help to make them stand out against the clear coat around the outside of them. The simple glaze helps to accentuate the letters stamped in. For my multi wheel project I made a standing bowl. It is 8 by 7 inches. The base of the bowl is shaped like an hourglass. There are several thick lines carved into it. It is glazed with dark blue. To attach the two pieces I used a rib tool to smooth out the area where it was slipped and scored. The lines carved in add dimension to the project, while also hiding the place they were attached to make it look like one piece. The lines help to direct the eye away from where it was attached so one can focus on the full project. My lidded project is 3 by 4 inches. It has a small base and progressively gets wider. It is glazed with white glaze. When making this project, I made a ball shaped lid rather than the upside down planter lid. The thin white glaze gives the project simplicity. The projects features are easy to focus on due to the simple glaze. My cup is 4 by 3 inches. It has a small base and gets wider as it goes up. The cup has a carved design going all the way around. It is glazed clear with a turquoise sitting in the lines. I used a ball point tool to experiment with carving into the cup. The random carvings gives the project a quirky feel. The glaze helps to accentuate the carvings so they are more noticeable.
For my set of three I made a Teapot, a cylinder, and a plate. My teapot is 4 by 4 inches, my cylinder is 5 by 2 and my plate is 3.5 inches in diameter. My teapot and cup are smooth all over while my plate has a spiral starting on the outside going in. My teapot and plate are both glazed with colbalt blue. The lid of my teapot was dipped in turquise along the outside. My cylinder is glazed with dark blue. When making the spout of my teapot I used to pinky fingers to pull the walls up. I then choked it so it would be very long and narrow. The simple glazes help to accentuate the details of the projects themselves. |
