My cup is 4 by 3 inches. It has a small base and gets wider as it goes up. The cup has a carved design going all the way around. It is glazed clear with a turquoise sitting in the lines. I used a ball point tool to experiment with carving into the cup. The random carvings gives the project a quirky feel. The glaze helps to accentuate the carvings so they are more noticeable.
For my set of three I made a Teapot, a cylinder, and a plate. My teapot is 4 by 4 inches, my cylinder is 5 by 2 and my plate is 3.5 inches in diameter. My teapot and cup are smooth all over while my plate has a spiral starting on the outside going in. My teapot and plate are both glazed with colbalt blue. The lid of my teapot was dipped in turquise along the outside. My cylinder is glazed with dark blue. When making the spout of my teapot I used to pinky fingers to pull the walls up. I then choked it so it would be very long and narrow. The simple glazes help to accentuate the details of the projects themselves. |
